Medicare Cleft Scheme
The Australian Government supports treatment for costs associated with cleft lip and palate. Your medical or dental practitioner now certifies your child is eligible to receive treatment under the Medicare scheme. Individuals must be enrolled with Medicare and certified as eligible prior to the age of 22 (due to having cleft lip, cleft palate or a related condition). Treatment is supported up to the age of 28 years. Details about the Medicare Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate scheme are available through Department of Human Services, Cleft Lip and Palate Scheme or from your cleft clinic.
CleftPALS Vic acknowledges with thanks the work of Founding President Joel Solomon OAM and others in the establishment of this scheme, which benefits many in our community.
